What Does It Really Mean To Live An Intentional, Christ-Centered Life?

"And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation;..." -Helaman 5:12

Living an intentional, Christ-centered life involves thinking of Him often. It means to live the things we are taught during Sunday worship meetings. Carrying His teachings to how we show up in the workplace. How we show up in our homes and how we show up in our community. To live a Christ-centered life is to seek His presence with real intent so we can truly follow Him.

Let's break down who Jesus Christ is as a person. Who exactly are we following? He lived a life of pure love. This kind of love is known as charity 'the pure love of Christ'. Even to His accusers, abusers, persecutors, and traitors. He showed a love that only He possesses. We can draw on that love. We cannot love perfectly as He does, but we can access His love perfectly if we seek it out with the intention to act. And then follow through with His perfect guidance and consecration promised in 2 Nephi 32:9 "But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul."

To begin your Christ-centered life, is to begin living with love. Towards yourself and others patterned after the way He showed us. Some of His other attributes include faith, hope, virtue, integrity, knowledge, patience, humility, diligence and obedience. To live a life with Christ at the center, it would be helpful to gradually obtain each of these attributes in our own character. He does not expect us to be perfect. He does, however, want the best lives for us. Living a life full of these attributes breeds success in all aspects of our lives.

What are your strengths and weaknesses? How does knowing Christ increase your gratitude for Him? How could your life look different if you chose just one of these attributes to improve?

Let's talk about it!
