Discover how to build a life anchored in Jesus Christ through daily intention, spiritual alignment, and simple, faith-filled practices.

What does it look like to live with daily intention? As defined in the Oxford Learners dictionary, intention is "what you plan to do; your aim". A common idiom used "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" meaning it is not enough to simply intend to do good things. We must actually do the good things we intend to do. That is the essence of living with daily divine intention.

It begins with our spiritual alignment. Start with a regular prayer routine. A good first step to carry out what we intend to do, is to first write it down. Find a journal that you designate as your personal prayer journal. Treat it as though your life depends on it.  2 Nephi 9:52 instructs us "...pray unto him continually by day, and give thanks unto his holy name by night. Let your hearts rejoice." God wants to guide you! In your morning prayer, ask Heavenly Father one thing He would have you focus on for the day. Write it down in your prayer journal. Then ask Him to help you overcome any obstacles that may tempt your focus away from what He has prompted you to do. Then ask "what else?" Write down your impressions and make a concerted effort to carry out what you received.

I have done this countless times. There is a distinct difference on the days I begin with this routine and the days that I do not. It is enough of a difference that has driven me to continue out with this routine every single day. Because I know that God wants me to succeed. I know that He wants you to succeed. But He can only give us what we are ready and willing to receive. This simple routine shows Him that we are, at the very least, willing to ask and receive His guidance. What we choose to do with His guidance will determine how He continues to give it to us.

Throughout your day of divine intention, continue to have a prayer in your heart. Keeping your focus grounded in the impressions you received first thing in the morning. He will continue to help you remain focused because you are actively showing that you want to remain focused on His guidance. In order to really discover your divine potential, this step is essential. It is so easy to get distracted by the things that are happening around us.

I'm often overloaded with the responsibilities that come with being a single mom of three small kids. But since I shifted my focus to becoming the individual that God intends me to be, I have found a completely new person within myself that I didn't know existed. I spent so much of my life advocating for the needs of others. Thinking I was being a good, selfless person. But what I didn't realize, was that I was losing who I was in the process. It's so easy to do. I also learned that in doing so, I was stunted in my own growth towards becoming who Heavenly Father designed me with the potential to be. Over the last couple of years, I have been on the journey of living with divine intention. And it has changed  my life.

It can change yours too!

At the end of your day, after you've had your ups and downs of keeping in mind what God has impressed up on you to do; give an accounting to Him. Go to Him in prayer with your journal beside you. Express gratitude for all the ways you recognized His hand in your life that day. Ask Him how you can improve tomorrow. Write down how you feel as you notice His part in your day. Record the impressions of improvement you receive and prayerfully come up with a plan to carry out your new goals of intentional improvement.

Acting on your intentions is vital to becoming successful in living a life of daily divine intention.

Please share your experiences with me! I'd love to build a community of encouragement and empowerment as we are all striving to follow God intentionally!
